Description: Established in 1986, CAPS
conducts HIV/AIDS prevention research; stimulates collaboration;
disseminates knowledge, skills and effective research and
prevention models; contributes to HIV policy development;
and analyzes ethical issues.
Information Available: Provides model prevention programs,
prevention "tool kits", fact sheets, reports, manuals,
collaborative projects and list of current CAPS projects.

The Community Guide

Description: The Community Guide, developed
by a non-Federal Task Force on Community Preventive Services,
offers leadership in the evaluation of community, population
and health care system strategies to address a variety of
public health and health promotion topics.
Information Available: A summary of published evidence
on the effectiveness of populations-based interventions that
have been used to prevent HIV, STD, and unintended pregnancy.

Description: The goal of DHAP is to prevent

on effective prevention and treatment programs.

Description: MEDLINEplus, sponsored by
the National Library of Medicine, includes a vast amount of
health information on over 600 diseases and conditions. The
site offers authoritative, up to date and appropriate health
information for both health professionals and consumers.
Information Available: Latest news concerning HIV/AIDS,
publications from the National Institutes of Health, general
information, alternative therapies, clinical trials, diagnosis/symptoms,
disease management, prevention and screening programs, research,
specific condition/aspects, treatment information, statistics,
law and policy and specific populations.

Description: The HAB was formed in August
1997 to consolidate all programs funded under the Ryan White
Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act. The Bureau
funds programs providing care, services and treatment for
individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS.
Information Available: Federal HIV/AIDS funding (Title
I, II, III, IV, AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAP), etc.);
Ryan White CARE Act data; program evaluations; current grant
opportunities; HIV training, consultation and education; publications

Description: Responsible for protecting
and promoting the health of the state through the assessment

Description: AIDS Action is dedicated
to the development, analysis, cultivation, and encouragement
of sound policies and programs in response to the HIV epidemic.
They do this through the dissemination of information and
the building and use of advocacy on behalf of all those infected
with/affected by HIV/AIDS.

for 2002-2003, latest HIV-related governmental developments,
publications (policy briefs, fact sheets and recommendations;
model prevention and treatment programs for specific populations)

Description: HIVdent serves as a means
of accessing information from authorities in the field of
oral health care for people living with HIV, as well as education,
resources, public policy and ethics.
Information Available: Dental treatment
considerations, commonly used and prescribed medicines, medical
news updates, nutrition information, public policy updates,
mental health considerations, infection control, resources
and funding, research news, faculty associated with HIVdent,
pediatric health care and additional HIV links.

Description: Developed by the Center
for HIV Information (CHI) at the University of California
San Francisco, HIV InSite provides comprehensive, in-depth
HIV/AIDS information and knowledge. The site links to the
best of the Web, and thousands of links to external Web sites
are incorporated into the site's original content.
Information Available: Latest news and developments,
a comprehensive on-line textbook on HIV, treatment information
and resources for providers and people living with HIV, prevention
materials (includes basic knowledge, program guidelines and
evaluation, literature, etc.), policy analysis and links for
specific populations and topics.
Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) - HIV/AIDS

Description: The Henry J. Kaiser Family
Foundation, an independent philanthropy, focuses on the major
health care issues facing the nation. The Foundation is an
independent voice and source of facts and analysis for policymakers,
the media, the health care community, and the general public.

and news on prevention, treatment, public policy and financing;
public education/media campaigns; surveys; fact sheets; charts
and reports. Site also includes link to KFF and Viacom's social

National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC)

Description: Established in 1987, NMAC
has dedicated itself to developing leadership within communities
of color to address the challenges of HIV/AIDS.
Information Available: HIV/AIDS conferences; basic
knowledge and hotlines; current news and events; public policy;
treatment, policy and technical assistance publications; resources,
treatment information and an online action center.
The Well Project

Description: The Well Project, Inc. is
an initiative conceived, developed, and administered by HIV+
women and those who are affected by the disease. The Well
Project works to improve the lives of women living with HIV
and AIDS. In order to reach this goal, the organization develops
new resources to educate, nurture and support the community
of HIV+ women, their caregivers and their health care providers.

Description: As the main advocate for
global action on HIV/AIDS, UNAIDS leads, strengthens and supports
an expanded response aimed at preventing the transmission

Description: The United Nations
specialized agency for health, the World Health Organization's
objective, as set in its Constitution, is the attainment by
all peoples of the highest possible level of health. Health
being defined in WHO's Constitution as a state of complete
physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the
absence of disease or infirmity.
