Faith-based organizations and small
secular organizations serve an important role in the life of many
communities in the MFH service area. As part of their ministry or
service, such organizations often are involved in health-related
activities, both preventative and clinical, and comprise a non-traditional
resource for addressing health needs and issues in their respective
communities.

In recognition of those efforts, MFH developed Health
Interventions in Non-Traditional Settings (HINTS). Grants made
through HINTS are designed to support efforts of eligible nonprofits
not typically considered traditional health organizations.
The intent of HINTS is to assist these organizations in establishing
new health programs, or supporting and expanding existing services
to improve community health.
In addition to faith-based organizations, examples
of secular organizations that could be eligible for HINTS include
neighborhood associations and clubs of various kinds.
