MFH Funding FAQs
Why is MFH changing its grantmaking structure?
The grantmaking shift helps MFH be more responsive to Missourians’ health needs by encouraging community collaborations and partnerships. These types of grants can have a broader, deeper community impact when organizations work together to solve a problem.
When will the change happen?
The new funding structure is being phased in starting in 2012, and likely will continue through 2013.
How does the change affect my current grant?
There are no changes to existing grants. Amounts and timelines remain the same, as outlined in your grant award agreement.
What kinds of grants can I apply for in 2012?
Some decisions about specific grants available in 2012 are still being made. Basic Support and General Support for Advocacy remain the same in 2012. Most other grant programs are changing, and will shift focus to a broader, more community-based emphasis. The current list of 2012 grant opportunities is posted on the MFH website, and is updated when new opportunities are announced.
Why is MFH no longer offering grants for specific health issues such as asthma, diabetes or obesity?
Grants will be available to address specific health issues, but within the framework of MFH’s new, broader funding programs. For example, diabetes may be one focus in a community-wide partnership that emphasizes healthy living, obesity prevention, or patient-centered medical homes.
Will grants still be available to the same types of nonprofits that have been funded in the past?
MFH will continue to fund the same types of organizations. This includes eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits and government organizations that focus on health-related activities and programs. Eligibility requirements vary by funding program.
