What are the New Funding Areas?
Most of MFH’s future funding efforts can be grouped in five main areas: Separate from the areas are MFH’s funding mechanisms to support activities such as Basic Support and Emergency Funding.

Applying Online for MFH Funding

Many MFH funding opportunities are now handled through an online application process.

To apply for funding, review the program's Request for Applications (RFA), then set-up an MFH online account to complete the online application. Instructions on setting up an online account will be posted on the funding program page along with the RFA. (Note: Basic Support funding does not have a RFA.)

Applicants must also submit online all required attachments listed in the RFA Application Checklist (included in the RFA).  These can be submitted in Word, Excel, or Adobe PDF formats.

When scanning documents, MFH recommends a resolution of 200 dpi to keep the size of the document to a minimum. Other questions and tips for applying online are addressed in this FAQ.

If you have any questions about applying for funding, contact the MFH employee listed on the funding program's page.

EMERGENCY GRANTS

Emergency grants are available to any health-focused nonprofit operating within the MFH service region. Type 1 emergencies include catastrophic events, either natural or man-made, that immediately affect the ability of an eligible nonprofit to deliver critical services to its clients and the community, and can’t be accommodated from resources available to the organization. Type 2 emergencies include unanticipated events, other than loss/reduction of funding, which is beyond the control of an organization’s ability to maintain its programs and can't be accommodated from resources available to the organization. Type 2 funding is limited to $25,000.

Emergency funding is available only for activities directly related to maintenance of health and delivery of medical care, which includes provision of food. Use of MFH funds for non-health expenses (such as housing and utilities) will be limited to situations in which a family member has special health needs that cannot be met in an emergency housing situation.

The destruction caused by tornadoes in southwest Missouri and the St. Louis metro area, and flooding in southeast Missouri, are considered Type 1 emergencies by MFH. Nonprofits in these areas are encouraged to contact MFH using any of the methods below:
  • Eligible nonprofits should submit a one-page emergency request with the following information:
- impact of emergency on the community;
- impact of emergency on organization (beyond normal services provided);
- amount of request;
- what the requested funds will buy; and
- number of people/families anticipated to be served.
  • Main telephone – 314.345.5500 or toll-free 800.655.5560
  • E-mail – info@mffh.org
