What is MoCAP?

A  MoCAP FAQ page addresses questions about MoCAP, federal funding and consultants.

MFH held an informational meeting in St. Louis for nonprofits, local governments and community leaders to learn more about MoCAP. View the PowerPoint presentation from this meeting.

MoCAP

Historically speaking, Missouri organizations have been less than successful in capturing their share of federal funds available to support community health and prevention programs. This is in part due to the complex applications, time consuming filing processes and short application periods. Many Missouri organizations do not have adequate expertise or resources to prepare competitive applications, even though they are capable of carrying out effective projects if funded.

In an effort to capture additional federal dollars, the Board of Directors of the Missouri Foundation for Health approved the MoCAP program in May 2010. Through this unique program, MFH will assist nonprofits and governmental health organizations that want to submit applications for federal funding.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW AND GOALS

MoCAP’s goal is to ensure that community health and prevention programs in Missouri have adequate support through federal dollars authorized through ACA.

Through MoCAP, MFH will:
    • Monitor federal funding opportunities appropriate to Missouri communities
    • Communicate with eligible nonprofits and organizations about those opportunities
    • Provide web-based and individual consulting services and technical assistance to nonprofits and organizations in preparing and submitting funding proposals
    • Monitor success and failure, and share lessons learned from those results (Note: This is only for the application, review and funding process, not for monitoring the performance of carrying out approved grants.)
