Description:  The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in everyday activities.

National Center for Dissemination of Disability Research

Description:  NCDDR's scope of work focuses on knowledge translation (KT) of NIDRR-sponsored research and development results into evidence-based instruments and systematic reviews. NCDDR is developing systems for applying rigorous standards of evidence in describing, assessing, and disseminating research and development outcomes.

Description:  NCD is an independent federal agency composed of members appointed by the President of the United States, by and with the advice and consent of the U.S. Senate. NCD provides advice to the President, Congress, and executive branch agencies to promote policies, programs, practices, and procedures that guarantee equal opportunity for all individuals with disabilities, regardless of the nature or severity of the disability and to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve economic self-sufficiency, independent living, and inclusion and integration into all aspects of society

Freedom Initiative Online Resource for People with Disabilities

Description:  Federal website that contains disability-related resources on programs, services, laws and regulations to help people with disabilities lead full, independent lives.

Governor’s Council on Disability

Description:  The Missouri Disability Portal is provided by the Governor's Council on Disability and is designed to connect the public with national, state and local disability resources according to their inquiries and interests

Information available:  links to resources, disability information, transportation, service animals, housing, health, recreation, assistive technology, events, updates regarding government initiatives pertaining to disability issues


Missouri Department of Mental Health Division of Developmental Disabilities

Description:  Government portal to link  members of the community to various disability resources.

Information available: government program information, disability organizations, information regarding specific disabilities, Medicare and Medicaid, Missouri Trust Fund, Guide to Home and Community Based Services, nursing homes, employment, starter kits, overviews and links for families, provider and consumer information


Missouri Association of County Developmental Disabilities Services

Description:  The Missouri Association of County Developmental Disabilities Services (MACDDS) is comprised of 51 county boards that provide local services for an estimated 47,000 people with developmental disabilities.   The website provides information and links to resources to members of the community.
